Welcome to the Optimist Club of NE Portland

Optimist International has had a long and distinguished history working with youth. The first club was organized in 1919. Since then thousands of clubs have been charted around the world. The Optimist Club of North East Portland was chartered in 1948 by a group of honorable and good men who had a deep desire to help the youth of the Portland community.

The N.E. Club has been serving Portland for over 55 years, and is a member of the Pacific North West District, sponsoring new clubs in Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and Alaska. Each club is dedicated to reaching out to the troubled and needy children of their community. Please visit our programs site and have a look at the various and wonderful things the club does.

Childhood cancer is now our center piece. Cancer devastates the lives of adults, image what it can and does do to the child and the family. While we can only pray for cures, we can reach out to aid the families, and to comfort the children as best as we can.

Today, we need you more than ever before. Our generation has become one of the busiest generations in history, as we work to support our families, take our kids to soccer practice, and everything else in between that fewer and fewer seem to have time to volunteer.
